What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Specialist position at Northern Energy Services?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. Our ideal candidate will have well-rounded accounting skills with experience in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. This position requires someone with meticulous attention to detail and a sense for numbers who is reliable and wants to be a key member of our accounting team.
Duties
- Compiling information and generating client invoices
- Recording client invoices in accounting system
- Submitting prepared invoices to clients for payment
- Monitoring invoice aging and following up on past due invoices
- Sending statements to clients
- Reconciling the A/R ledger to ensure all invoices from field offices are recorded
- Entering PO’s in A/P system
- Indexing supporting documentation in A/P system
- Coding and entering A/P invoices in A/P system
- Reconciling vendor statements
- Other duties as able and assigned
Qualifications
- Two years office administrative experience with one year each of A/P and A/R experience preferred
- Basic skill level with Microsoft Excel (additional training will be provided)
- Working knowledge of all other Windows Office applications
- Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
While not required, prior experience in Sage 300 CRE would be highly preferred as would experience working in a project-based industry. We are looking for an individual who can work well independently but also collaborate effectively as part of a group and who can be trusted to perform tasks efficiently and accurately with minimal oversight.

Standard hours are Monday-Friday 8 AM-5 PM with an hour for lunch but we will consider other comparable scheduling. Pay will depend on experience.
This is an in-person position - no remote work or hybrid options are available. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Anchorage and the surrounding area.
