TITLE: Superintendent– Plant 2 Welding Department
LEVEL/DIVISION: Operations
REPORTING TO: Operations Manager
SUMMARY:
Northern Stamping, Inc. is an industry leading, tier one and two automotive supplier is looking for a dynamic, results orientated Manufacturing Professional to lead the daily manufacturing activities of our 24/5 Welding and assembly operations.
Plans, directs and coordinates the Welding manufacturing processes in the Welding Facility. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods utilizing the process of continuous improvement to reduce scrap, increase efficiency and equipment utilizations. Responsibilities require knowledge of all products and their operating characteristics, plant layout, production capacity of department, plant procedures, practices, safety, quality standards, and ERP/MRP Systems. Make reports to management on production efficiency and work completion dates. Executes administrative policies through subordinate supervisors. Responsible for ensuring IATF 16949 Quality Systems and ISO14001 Environmental Management System activities are followed within the plant.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe environment and lead a safety first culture
- Lead efforts to affect a defect free environment
- Lead efforts to ensure standards and repeatability are met within production operations
- Supervise employees in the making of products while ensuring safety, quality and productivity standards are met
- Act as liaison for all plant issues as it relates to Safety, Quality, Customer Service and Cost-daily and direct communication with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering and HR
- Work daily with the Production Manager and Master Scheduler to ensure “Hit Schedule at all costs” mentality, ultimately providing the customer(s) with 100% on time delivery
- Responsible for the direct Supervision of Production Supervisors on assigned shift and the direction of 80 plus indirect employees
- Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, will implement and track Key Performance Indicators in the plant to ensure successful operation of the facility in all area’s important to NSI (safety, quality, customer service and cost)
- Evaluate, counsel, train and empower employees to maximize potential and to develop and sustain team objectives and effort in the production operation cells
- Create, Maintain and store work instructions and standard operating procedures for role and subordinate’s role

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS:
- College Preferred, with a minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess strong mathematical skills.
- Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing environment, with at least three years in welding and assembly area’s leading production cells in this area.
- Must be detailed oriented and pay close attention to accuracy.
- Strongly prefer candidates with an automotive supplier background
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Suite of products. Prefer candidates with prior ERP/MRP experience and Microsoft Excel experience.
- Able to analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems and discrepancies. As well as the ability to resolve such issues effectively and timely.
- Ability to work in both an Office or Plant environment with occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.
- Valid drivers’ license is required.
- High Degree/Sense of Urgency is required along with prioritization and self-accountability.
- Become the process expert. Primary contact for manufacturing, regarding equipment and process issues including, but not limited to, equipment downtime, safety and production of conforming product.
- Problem Solving Skills: Ability to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects in the production line.
