What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Internship Initiative Coordinator (*Restricted) position at Northern VA Community College?

Eligible for one day telework following successful completion of probationary period and approval of supervisor.
The Regional Internship Initiative Coordinator provides leadership and support for developing a Regional Workforce through Equitable Work-Based Learning. This position will be responsible to expand the number of high-quality paid and credit-bearing internships and other work-based learning opportunities in collaboration with regional employers.
Duties and Tasks:
- This position will develop and maintain engagement and projects with leaders in businesses, community-based non-profits, government agencies, and other relevant groups in collaborations with K-12 and higher education partners.
- This position will be responsible for planning and implementing engagement activities in the region, such as an student and employer outreach, events management, workshops, orientations, and assistance to employers creating and developing internships.
- This position is restricted and is funded with non-continuous or non-recurring funding and is subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and the needs of the College.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Ability to organize committee and groups projects.
- Research skills to identify best practices for traditional and non-traditional students.
- Knowledge of academic planning or career and student development
- Skilled in written communication, including the development of presentations, guides, and promotional materials.
- Skilled in oral communication, including large and small group presentations and/or class lectures.
- Ability to independently plan and coordinate a variety of programs and projects.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor respectful of diversity and multiculturalism.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in the collection and reporting of data.
- Experience with planning and coordinating events.
- Experience supporting and developing work-based-learning or internship experiences.
- Experience in career services related to work-based learning in either high school or college
- Experience working on grant-based projects
- Proficient in computer usage, including PeopleSoft, Navigate Student Information System, or career management systems such as Symplicity
- Experience in counseling, human resources, social service, college or college bound programs.
- Local travel between campus locations and to attend occasional external meetings and events. Potential for occasional overnight conference travel.
Employees must reside in Virginia, Maryland or District of Columbia.
