Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is currently seeking to fill a Senior Northrop Grumman Fellow position to join our Combat Systems & Mission Readiness (CSMR) division. As an NG Fellow in CSMR division, you will serve as the primary sector domain expert in multi domain integrated air and missile defense command and control systems business/technical area. In this role, you will innovate for competitive advantage while developing solutions to enable advanced C4 capabilities to synchronize joint all-domain operations against 21st century threats. These systems must provide seamless, resilient, and secure data transport and transform vast amounts of data from distributed sensors and weapons systems into actionable information across multiple domains for better, faster decision making and precision effects. CSMR solutions are being develop and fielded to meet the needs of US military and our nation's allies.
As the recognized leader in this technical domain, you will join Engineering, Program and Business Development leaders in architecting, developing, maturing, and integrating solutions employing breakthrough technology innovations for new development/production opportunities to achieve the division growth goals. You will set and drive strategy for a broad set of technical initiatives and will be empowered to make decisions and be held accountable for results that significantly impact the annual operating plan (AOP) and long-range strategic plan (LRSP) outcomes and other major initiatives. You will also act as a thought leader representing the business within the customer community and within industry groups.
Senior NG Fellow is expected to provide scientific, technical, intellectual leadership, as well as analytical support contributing to the advancement of set goals, particularly as they apply to digital transformation, process improvements, lean-agile approach, and workforce development and pipeline. NG Fellow also serves as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
The selected candidate can work in our Huntsville AL or McLean VA location, or any other Northrop Grumman campus.
The Senior NG Fellow Roles and Responsibilities:
- Is involved in attracting and capturing new business by participating in enterprise campaigns, strategy development, proposals, NARs, and analyses of alternatives/trade studies requiring the area of technical expertise
- Works closely with the Division Leaders to define technical solutions aligned to customers' strategies and requirements
- Designs research and develops highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company
- Is viewed as a technical leader by customers, peers, and subordinates
- Possesses strong knowledge, experience, and technical respect relating to maximizing the value of R&D expenditures and how these support stable growth
- Advocates for technical differentiation through innovation or synthesis
- Participates in customer, industry, and/or academic, advisory boards or consortiums
- Establishes architectures and design patterns to integrate solutions and provides guidance to teams on model based systems engineering
- Champions company values, including safety, best practices, and continuous improvement
- Provides personnel technical development through leadership, team building, mentorship, and shared knowledge
- Conducts very complex scientific or technical analyses on behalf of a sector or significant business/technical area that require the synthesis of diverse disciplines and alternatives; solutions may be developed under conditions of uncertainty or where little precedent exist
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 20 years of combined electrical, computer engineering/science, systems, mechanical, manufacturing or industrial or related engineering experience OR Masters of Science Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 18 years of combined engineering experience (as listed above) OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline plus 15 years of combined engineering experience (as listed above).
- At least 15 years of professional experience in the defense and aerospace industries
- At least 10 years of professional experience in integrated air and missile defense command and control systems
- Proven leadership experience with architecture development, systems engineering and mission engineering or, operations
- Demonstrated experience working with customers and executives
- Position may require domestic travel < 15%
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Ability to obtain Special Access Program and higher-level clearances as required by business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of Model Based Systems Engineering Experience
- Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries, to understand and apply best practices or to share learnings from local initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to lead a large and diverse group, establish clear expectations, inspire commitment, build teams, value diversity and put people first.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply systems engineering and lean thinking principles and tools in order to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills
- Strong business acumen and a clearly demonstrated commitment to open communication and customer satisfaction
- Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships
- Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
- Apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts
- Has a network of outside technical contacts within industry, with outside experts in their discipline, and/or has a technical working relationship with a university
- Has recently been published or presented technical papers external to the Corporation
Salary Range: $186,900.00 - $280,300.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
