What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Servicing Specialist position at Northwest FCU?
Overview :
The Mortgage Servicing Specialist is responsible for servicing all mortgage loans per regulatory guidelines to include managing escrow accounts, lien releases as well as reviewing loan documentation to ensure terms are within applicable FNMA and Freddie Mac guidelines. The primary function in this role is to manage and pay all hazard insurance bills for the first mortgage loans and second mortgages as it applies. In addition, the other primary functions of this role includes handling loss draft insurance claims for property damage, construction loan set up, maintenance to include transition to new loan and processing mortgage loan payoffs and loan payment adjustments.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure insurance organizations are set up accurately in the core system
- Prepare all insurance contracts on first mortgage loans and second mortgages as applies and remit to insurance service company
- Follow up and ensure insurances are paid on time without cancellation to protect the credit union
- Manage, track, and follow investor guidelines for Loss Drafts Insurance claims for property damages
- Complete construction loan disbursements and set up new loan as applies
- Process mortgage loan adjustments and payoffs in the credit union core system
- Follows defined steps for work that is mostly transactional
- Works under moderate supervision; receives guidance on new assignments but normally works independently on mastered tasks
- Maintains composure when dealing with difficult situations
- Makes sound decisions and exercises good judgment
- Suggests improvements to processes and procedures
- Provide quality member service promptly through answering telephone inquiries in the loan servicing phone queue, responding to emails, online banking and interdepartmental cases presented
- Research and resolve problems or discrepancies
- Maintain department policy and procedure documentation accordingly
- Remain cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
