What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, Welding - Northwest Florida State College position at Northwest Florida State College?
The Coordinator of Welding Technology is directly accountable to the Director of Skilled Trades for the following duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach assigned classes and effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the class and shop.
- Provide excellence in instruction within the Skilled Trades Department for welding students.
- Follow course planning schedules, programs of study, and evaluate students per written guidelines.
- Provide all class lectures, lab, and instruction according to the required curriculum.
- Directly supervise all students assigned to the class.
- Maintain discipline and keep all students safe.
- Monitor student attendance and retention rate.
- Maintain academic records.
- Maintain equipment and supplies while following proper budgetary constraints.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of curriculum as appropriate.
- Utilize approved textbook(s) and/or other instructional materials.
- Collaborate with administration, faculty, and staff to ensure student success.
- Provide student guidance and support.
- Engage in institutional service, professional development, and other duties as assigned by the Program Director, the Dean of Workforce Education, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
- Maintain equipment and supplies while following proper budgetary constraints.
- Assist in the recruitment of new students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Dean of Workforce Education, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Job Requirements:
- Successful completion of a welding examination is a condition of employment for this position.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certificate in Welding Technology from an accredited institution
- Three (3) years of full-time documented employment as a welder with an AA degree or five (5) years of full-time employment as a welder with a Welding technology certificate
- Documented experience in the following welding processes: SMAW (stick), GMAW (Mig),
- FCAW, GTAW (Tig).
- Pipefitting experience.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in welding is strongly preferred.
- Five (5) years of full-time employment as a pipe welder
- AWS or other related welding certification
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification
- Teaching experience
