What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids on Campus, Adjunct - Northwest Florida State College position at Northwest Florida State College?
Adjunct (part-time) instructors are hired on as-needed, or per course basis. By applying for this position, you will be joining the part-time instructional pool for consideration as a prospective adjunct instructor for Kids on Campus program during summer.
The Kids on Campus Adjunct Instructor is directly accountable to the K-12 Programs Coordinator or Department Director for the following duties and responsibilities. Kids on Campus summer programs are designed for students entering grades 3rd - 8th and aim to introduce students to the college campus environment while learning fun, age-appropriate skills and hobbies.
The individual who fills this position is expected to play a positive role in teaching kids fun and educational content.
Classes may include, but are not limited to:
- STEM Classes - Virtual Reality, Career Exploration, 3-D Printing, Environmental Science & Conservation
- Arts - Music, Dance, Theater, Art, Drawing, Cookie Decorating
- Languages - American Sign Language, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Creative Writing
- Sports - Martial Arts, Rugby, Pilates, Yoga, Wellness and Fitness, Basketball
- Extended Care - Morning and Afternoon
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Attend required instructor orientation.
- Complete required mandatory online compliance training.
- Develop daily lesson plans.
- Develop an instructional supply list.
- Maintain a safe, innovative learning environment.
- Provide diverse learning opportunities for all students.
- Manage student behavior in classroom.
- Supervise and assist with daily setup and cleanup of classroom.
- Provide copies of all lesson plans and supply lists to K-12 Programs office in case of instructor absence.
- Perform other relevant duties assigned by the K-12 Programs Coordinator.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
- One year of teaching with targeted age group of 8-14 years old, preferred.
- Must document related work experience, certification(s) or degree(s) earned in the area of study.
- Able to work individually with diverse ages and populations.
- Friendly, positive and courteous.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of class subject matter.
- Experience in student engagement techniques, preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
