What are the responsibilities and job description for the Masonry Coordinator | Corrections Program - Northwest Florida State College position at Northwest Florida State College?
The individual filling this position will lead the planning, development, instruction, and implementation of the Masonry Program located at the Department of Corrections facility in Okaloosa County. This position is an at-will employment position and is expressly contingent upon the existence and renewal of the Florida Department of Corrections and Northwest Florida State College Contractual Purchase Order.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional services directly to adult students incarcerated in the Department of Corrections Okaloosa facility.
- Collaborate with the Manager to conduct program planning necessary to coordinate, implement, and achieve program objectives, adjusting as necessary to ensure student success.
- Maintain stringent reporting documentation and timelines.
- Complete all required Department of Corrections training activities.
- Work closely with NWFSC Skilled Trades Program Director to stay updated on industry trends and material needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate masonry course curriculum, including learning assessments that align with industry demands.
- Teach masonry courses appropriate to the level of expertise and actively recruit subject matter experts as adjunct instructors for specialized topics.
- Provide both classroom instruction and hands-on training to enable students to acquire NCCER Certification in masonry.
- Participate in accurate budget planning and management, ensuring effective operation within the approved budget.
- Maintain responsibility, accountability, and inventory control for equipment and supplies within the department.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training as part of the college's risk management tool.
- Perform other duties as may be appropriately assigned to achieve the overall goals of the program

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with three (3) years of documented experience in masonry or related construction trades; or an associate's degree from an accredited institution with seven (7) years of documented experience in masonry or related construction trades; or a High School Diploma with ten years of documented experience in masonry or related construction trades.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office or comparable software applications.
- Must be proactive, creative, and innovative.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience owning or managing a masonry or construction business.
- Active Certified Masonry License or equivalent certification.
- Experience teaching in a high school, vocational, post-secondary, or corrections facility.
