The Assistant Director works in collaboration with the Director of the Counseling Center to support daily operations; assist in the development and regulation of clinical policies and procedures; provides comprehensive clinical services including individual, group, couples counseling; provides outreach and psycho-educational programs, and crisis intervention; provides consultation to students, faculty, and staff; and manages Clinical Services in the absence of the Director of the Counseling Center.
This position is 12-month, full-time (40 hours per week)
Essential Function
The most qualified applicants will be team oriented, highly organized, dependable, and able to function at a high-level with minimal supervision. Applicants should have excellent clinical skills and have knowledge of how to develop and implement college counseling outreach and prevention efforts.

A. Maintain a clinical caseload of students with complex psychological issues often confounded by limited familial support.
B. Provide short-term and ongoing treatment for a wide variety of issues including, but not limited to sexual trauma, history of abuse, depression, anxiety, mood disorder, and personality disorder.
C. Provide crisis intervention for mental health emergencies on campus
D. Some on-call responsibilities for after-hours mental health emergencies when the director is unavailable
E. Assist the director with administrative tasks, including but not limited to maintaining day to day functions of counseling center including oversight of appointment schedules, maintenance of records
F. Collaborate with the director to update and revise policies and procedures
G. Provide consultation for parents and faculty / staff on mental health issues, as needed.
H. Collaborate with the director and trainees to coordinate, plan, implement, and evaluate outreach efforts for the counseling center.
I. Co-lead clinical group supervision of counselors-in-training from graduate level Psy.D. and Ph.D. programs.
J. Provide consultation to graduate level counselors in the absence of the director.
K. Assist director in managing the counseling center's budget.
L. Assist director in grant-based initiatives and reporting.
M. Be an active participant in the Student Life team.
N. Supervise student wellness worker.
O. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Qualified candidates must be licensed or license eligible in Maryland and have a Master's degree or Ph.D. in social work, psychology or a related field. Additional requirements include; previous experience in college counseling, previous experience treating complex psychological issues; integrative orientation to clinical work, ability to work autonomously; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and strong organizational skills. Candidates will have knowledge of the mission of the University, and a demonstrated commitment and understanding of the service orientation of the University.
