About Us: Nubian Directions II, Inc. is a non-profit located in the city of Poughkeepsie dedicated to providing technology training, work readiness skills training, and educational support services for youth and adults that would improve workforce skills to foster sustainable community development. This position is for our YouthBuild program, which serves young adults aged 16 to 24 who dropped out of high school to get their GED and placement in a career.
Summary
The case manager oversees file and case management for YouthBuild participants while designing, implementing, and overseeing a job readiness training curriculum. The case manager is responsible for preparing participants for the workforce while following up to ensure their successful placement in their next steps. The case manager is also responsible for maintaining documentation requirements and data input for the YouthBuild program grant. The Case Manager works closely with the entire staff to build participants’ leadership skills.
Hours:
Hours are generally 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend hours may be required.
Qualifications
Education: Four-year college degree in career counseling, psychology, sociology, or a related field. Significant professional experience in a related field may be substituted for post-secondary education.
Experience
1. Minimum one year working as a case manager with young adults.
2. Experience helping young adults succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives and nurture their leadership skills.
3. Experience establishing rapport and relating sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.
4. Experience in job coaching, career development, or counseling preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Strong classroom facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.
2. Bilingual: Spanish/English speaking preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of best practices in the workforce development field.
4. Proficient in Microsoft products and database management.
5. Knowledge of Poughkeepsie area local community organizations, educational and training systems, public agencies, and private industries preferable.
6. Ability to complete tasks on time.

EVALUATION: Conducted by the YouthBuild Program Manager after 45 days and ongoing as needed.
Program Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation
- Develops, oversees, and implements a career development program that meets organizational standards and goals of primary funding sources.
- Ongoing development and implementation of job readiness classes and other courses in career development within the YouthBuild program.
- Ensures youth are prepared for, and connected to the appropriate educational or employment opportunities.
- Facilitates the completion of the job-readiness portfolio with each YouthBuild participant as needed.
- Serves as the lead staff in the Friday morning workshops, including providing job readiness training and supporting life skills workshops as needed.
- Assess the personal needs of YouthBuild participants and help find resources to meet their needs
- Provide individual and group counseling to YouthBuild participants
- Meet with participants to complete Individualized Employment Development Plans (IEDPS) and Life Plans (LPs).
- Facilitate weekly small-group sessions as needed.
- Advocate with human service, health, court, and criminal justice systems to resolve issues facing young people.
- Conduct home visits, as appropriate, to assess needs and support young people.

Transition and Post-Program Opportunities
1. Assist the Job Developer with outplacement goals and objectives.
2. Develop strategies with Job Developers for participants’ transition out of YouthBuild and post-program job development, training, and education opportunities.
3. Coordinates with the Program Manager and Data Specialist to ensure the regular facilitation of follow-up activities with program completers.
4. Maintains consistent tracking and follow-up, by participants’ IEDPs and LPs for a minimum of one year.
5. Helps create a resource library of information on education and training programs, internships, apprenticeships, and other post-program opportunities for YouthBuild participants.
Administrative Duties
1. Documentation and data entry in a variety of data systems that track program implementation.
2. Coordinates with other staff members to provide community and financial resources for participants.
3. Maintains concise documentation of the post-program tracking system.
4. Coordinates and maintains participant’s files, including responsibility for obtaining all necessary documentation following the YouthBuild grant requirements.
5. Participate in staff meetings.
6. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Program Support
1. Maintains open communication with the YouthBuild team including regular updates and attendance at YouthBuild meetings.
2. Works with the Job Developer to ensure maximum benefits and opportunities to link participants with educational and employment opportunities.
Dates: Two-year program beginning February 2025 EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time, temporary/52 weeks/exempt level, student services position
