The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing the purchase of mechanical components, parts, and equipment needed for engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery while adhering to quality standards, budget constraints, and project specifications, by collaborating closely with the engineering team to identify requirements and negotiate with vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirement Gathering: Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and project plans to identify necessary mechanical components, materials, and equipment needed for projects.
- Vendor Sourcing: Research and identify qualified suppliers for mechanical components, evaluating their pricing, quality, delivery capabilities, and reliability.
- Price Negotiation: Negotiate purchase orders with vendors, aiming for the best possible price, delivery terms, and payment conditions while maintaining quality standards.
- Purchase Order Management: Create and issue purchase orders, tracking their status throughout the procurement process, including expediting deliveries when necessary.
- Quality Control: Ensure procured components meet required quality standards by reviewing vendor certifications, conducting quality checks, and managing non-conformance issues.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, addressing concerns and collaborating on potential cost savings opportunities.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of mechanical components to prevent stockouts and optimize inventory costs.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze purchase data to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce procurement costs.
- Show a desire and willingness to learn and succeed.
- Complete all required training activities.
- Demonstrates commitment to the organization by maintaining regular, on-site attendance, is reliable and follows through on responsibilities.

Technical/Functional:
- Strong attention to detail.

Education/Experience:
- High school Diploma
- Bilingual: Must speak, read, and write English.

Schedule: 40 hr. work week
Mon-Thurs: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
