THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY OF $75,850.00.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.

The Division of Family Permanency Services (FPS) ensures that high quality services are provided to children in foster care by supporting provider agency staff with technical assistance and other services for children in foster care. FPS staff offer guidance to provider agencies on child welfare policies and procedures to improve service delivery and achieve safety, permanency, and well-being for children in foster care.

The Office of Placement Administration Coordinator is responsible for providing targeted and strategic support for the Office of Placement Administration. The OPA Coordinator provides daily reports that assist with the understanding of placement needs for children entering foster care. The OPA Coordinator collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to provide information, data and support which allows OPA to fulfill its mission of expeditiously placing children in safe and loving homes.

The Placement Specialist Supervisor would be responsible for performing the following duties, but not limited to:

  • Ensure sufficient coverage of their assigned unit at all times
  • Review and assesses cases to determine children’s placement needs
  • Direct child welfare specialist in best case practice to access placement
  • Review placement efforts made by CWS daily to ensure they are consistent with best practices
  • Conduct unit meetings
  • Conduct meetings with individual workers
  • Provide Child Welfare Specialists (CWS) with ongoing support and guidance so that they can improve on their job performance throughout the year
  • Conduct training when necessary
  • Ensure that evaluations are completed within agency timeframes.
  • Provide detailed justifications to support evaluation ratings
  • Maintain detail of unit workers time and leave
  • Sign off and submit time and leave on CityTime
  • Attend supervisory meetings as required
  • Utilize all data bases, including Placement Module, Placement Tracking System (PTS), WMS, LTS, CCRS, CAS , Connections, Docushare, and e-mail

CHILD WELFARE SPECIALIST SUPER - 52370

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or a combination of the following fields: social work, psychology,

sociology, human services, criminal justice, education (including early childhood), nursing or cultural anthropology, at least 12 of which must have been in one of these disciplines, and 30 semester credits toward a Masters of Social Work or a graduate degree in a related field, and at least eighteen months of child welfare casework experience.

Preferred Skills

The selected candidate must have child welfare experience. Candidate must be familiar with databases such as WMS, CCRS, PTS, ACRS , Connections, Vacancy Control, Child Placement Referral (CPR), Docushare, and e-mails.
