NYSUT IT Engineer

Overview

NYSUT’s Information Technology Department seeks to hire an experienced Engineer. The successful candidate will be asked to assist with developing and maintaining critical infrastructure and automation services. ServiceNow Engineering experience is required. This internship shall be for a period of no more than one year, during which time the Intern will be assigned a mentor. ONSITE

Primary Responsibilities (all to be performed under Mentor guidance):

·        Develop and maintain infrastructure and automation services;

·        Assist with developing standards and best practices for quality assurance and sustainability;

·        Develop ServiceNow catalog items, workflows, order guides, and other similar ServiceNow functionality;

·        Develop and maintain infrastructure-related automation for deployment, configuration, decommission, and services;

·        Deliver automation for AWS and Azure cloud environments;

·        Provides operational support for automation, services, and deliverables;

·        Provide testing for automation projects;

·        Support internal staff and external business partners as needed and requested;

·        Make process improvement suggestions and identify gaps in existing processes when able.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related equivalent experience

·        2 years experience in a ServiceNow engineering role

·        ServiceNow System Administrator, CMDB and/or Asset Management certification or equivalent experience required

·        Strong understanding of ITIL and IT service management principles 

·        Knowledge of ServiceNow development and best practices

·        Experience with IT asset discovery and inventory tools is a plus

·        Knowledge of Python, .Net, JavaScript or similar languages

·        Experience with cloud technologies -Microsoft Azure, AWS, and VMware

·        Experience automating manual OS administration tasks

·        Strong Collaboration and problem-solving skills

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Ability to independently learn new technologies quickly
