Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Shift Supervisor, Compounding Regulatory Compliance, Pharmacy - Mineola.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the supervision of pharmacy staff including the coordination of operations, and in the absence of senior pharmacy management, will assume the required role. Responsibility for all aspects of medication therapy, including review of all inpatient medication orders and outpatient prescriptions to ensure they are legibly written, conform to approved Hospital policies for content, and are appropriate for the patient(s) being prescribed, including any documentation of allergies, adverse drug reactions, clinical interventions, etc.; dispensing of medication; counselling of patients when necessary and; the direct supervision of non-licensed staff performing approved medication-related tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for triaging work appropriately to minimize order turn-around time and treatment delay. Accurately processes and dispenses floor stock medication orders, inpatient and outpatient medication orders and prescriptions. Maintains accurate patient profiles and logs. Communicates to the appropriate medical, nursing and pharmacy staff regarding issues affecting patient care.
  • Assists with staff training and development. Ensures all staff are orientated to the department, educated on department policies and procedures, and safety issues (i.e. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Fire extinguishers, etc.) and trained to safely operate all automated equipment. Reviews filled orders for accuracy and corrects any errors while educating staff on errors and preventive measures.
  • Enters medication orders accuratelyfrom written orders and discontinues medications as applicable. Validates Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) orders, and makes necessary corrections to order s intent. Uses clinical intervention tools to screen for possible adverse drug events. Documents interventions, notes, and allergies properly.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures related to working in the sterile preparation area and special handling requirements of sterile biohazardous orders. Maintains proper records for reference on patients for future treatments, and for Employee Health Related documentation regarding staff handling of biohazardous substances.
  • Responsible for ensuring that controlled substances are handled in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or PharmD. Current New York State Pharmacy License 1 - 2 years Hospital Pharmacy experience. Excellent communication (both oral and written), organizational, record-keeping skills. Strong knowledge of federal and state practice regulations and Joint Commission Medication Management Standards and National Patient Safety Goals.

Preferred Qualifications:
Post Doctoral PharmD. 3 - 5 years Hospital Pharmacy experience.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $151,695.85 - $185,827.45 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
