SUPERVISOR – VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

Supervisors in our Vegetation Management Division are responsible for planning, scheduling and supervising crews to ensure utility rules and specifications are followed and enforce all safety requirements of O'Connell Electric. Supervisors play an important role in maintaining effective communication between O'Connell's management team and our utility customer's vegetation management personnel.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Work with Project Managers, Division Managers, Safety Coordinators and General Foremen to establish work.
• Enforce all safety rules and requirements, including proper PPE and safe equipment operation.
• Develop plans to ensure all goals set by the vegetation management division are met.
• Manage budgets, quality, and mileage goals established by the customer.
• Provide bid estimates in response to customer requests.
• Coach, mentor and develop General Foremen.
• Meet with General Foremen and crew members on a regular basis to review budget, progress, mileage goals and expectations.
• Ensure appropriate equipment and tool maintenance is performed.
• Perform administrative tasks such as workforce planning, production tracking and billing.
• Serve as the primary contact for after-hour tree crew requests and/or storm related activity.
• Perform other duties as required to support project managers, communicate project success & risks, assist in the analysis of labor and finances.
• Work with General Foremen, other Supervisors and Fleet to assist managing equipment needs.

Minimum qualifications:

• 5 years of managing and leading employees is required.
• Bachelors or Associates degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology or related discipline is strongly preferred.
• ISA Arborist certification is strongly preferred.
• Experience with bidding and estimating vegetation management projects is preferred.
• Ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 programs.
• Must be able to wear required PPE.
• Must be able to withstand exposure to all weather conditions while completing work assignments.
• Must be physically able to traverse various terrains.
• Willing to work extended hours for storm response and emergencies including holidays and weekends.
• Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
• Must have a valid driver's license and ability to safely, legally operate company vehicles.

Compensation:

The minimum and maximum annual salary that O'Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $76,000 to $92,000 annually.
