Position Summary :
The Programming and Education department is a fast-paced and dynamic division that oversees the artistic program planning, artist booking and education and community engagement programming for Omaha Performing Arts. This position will primarily serve as an assistant teaching artist for O-pa’s Middle School Jazz Academy program. The Assistant Teaching Artist will work in collaboration with the Jazz Academy Teaching Artist to plan, organize and ensure the success of the program classes and performances. The Assistant Teaching Artist will work under the supervision of O-pa’s Senior Manager of Education.
This is a seasonal contracted position working approximately 4 hours per week during the contract period.
The duties of an OPA Assistant Teaching Artist (TA) include, but are not limited to the following :
- Mandatory attendance at all Jazz Academy ensemble classes and performances
- Organize and assist in running Jazz Academy ensemble classes in collaboration with the Jazz Academy Teaching Artist
- Run check in and check out and follow all O-pa guidelines and policies pertaining to check in and check out
- Maintain regular communication with Senior Manager of Education and Jazz Academy Teaching Artist
- Maintain safe environment for students’ physical and emotional well-being throughout rehearsal process
- Assist with any technical needs, including daily set-up and strike
- Serve as a teaching artist for other related O-pa education programs as needed
