Now Hiring: Banquet Cook
Location: DoubleTree by Hilton Springfield
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Banquet Cook to join our culinary team. This position plays a vital role in preparing and executing high-quality food for events, ensuring exceptional dining experiences for our guests. The ideal candidate will have experience in volume cooking, buffet service, and plate-up preparation for large events. Flexibility and teamwork are essential in this dynamic role.
Essential Responsibilities:
Volume Cooking: Prepare and cook food in large quantities to accommodate events with up to 450 guests.
Buffet and Plate-Up Preparation: Assist in buffet setup, as well as plate-up service for large banquets and events.
Station Cooking: Perform breakfast and live station cooking as needed.
Equipment Use: Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as broilers, fryers, steamers, and convection ovens.
Food Preparation: Wash, peel, and prepare vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients for service.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient operations during events.
Flexibility: Adapt to varying schedules and tasks based on event needs and business requirements.
Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Skills & Abilities:
Proven experience with volume cooking, ideally in a banquet or catering environment.
Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as broilers, fryers, steamers, and convection ovens.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to take initiative and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education & Experience:
Previous experience as a banquet cook or in a similar high-volume kitchen role is required.
Culinary training or certification is a plus but not mandatory.
Hours:
Five shifts per week, 30-40 hours.
Flexibility in scheduling is required based on event needs.
Physical Requirements of the Position:
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable performing repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, and plating.
