What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Houseman position at O'Sullivans Motel?
Seasonal family owned hotel in Lake George village looking for a Head Houseman to join our team for the 2025 season. Job will start as part time for training and transition to full time in May, with the possibility of year round work if the fit is good.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Typical Shift 8:30-5:00.
Looking to hire starting beginning of April.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to maintenance work orders and logging requests
- Collecting and disposing of trash and recycling
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks such as, but not limited to, fixing leaky faucets, unclogging drains, adjusting door hardware, Replacing light bulbs, batteries, and other expendable items.
- Assist with emergency repairs as needed
- Support repair and troubleshooting efforts for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Inspecting facilities for potential maintenance issues and reporting them to Management.
- Performing preventive maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
Grounds Maintenance:
- Maintaining the exterior of the building by removing debris, and basic landscaping tasks such as Watering and weeding gardens, flower pots, and hanging baskets
- Daily cleaning of the pool/ pool deck and checking of pool chemicals
- Daily raking of beachfront and organizing of Kayaks and outdoor furniture
- Ensuring that doors are locked at night
- Monitoring buildings and grounds for security and safety conditions
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Collecting, sorting & starting laundry
- Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment
- Ensuring that cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked
- Communicating when supplies are low and need to be ordered
- Performing routine cleaning tasks like vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, cleaning dishes and window cleaning.
- Cleaning up spills and messes
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness at all times
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance principles and practices is a plus.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting.
- Ability to work independently and stay on task
- Ability to follow directions and adhere to safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects as required.
- Ability to maintain excellent and professional communication skills while interacting with other team members as well as hotel guests
Working Conditions:
The role may require working in various environments, including outdoor settings, and may involve exposure to noise, hazardous materials, and varying weather conditions.
