Ice Arena Supervisor/Zamboni Driver
Arena supervisors are responsible for those tasks necessary to supervise and oversee daily operations. Along with maintenance and guard staffs, the arena supervisor works to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout all areas, inside and outside, of the building. The arena supervisor performs and supervises routine custodial and general maintenance services. He/she operates the Zamboni and related preparations to keep the ice clean, safe, and on schedule. The supervisor is also in charge of skate sharpening while on duty as well as following cash control and closing procedures and other tasks as assigned.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Ice Arena Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Opens, closes or works middle shifts
Performs shift-specific inspections of the entire facility
Checks compressors and all mechanical systems hourly
Monitors ice thickness and quality while resurfacing
Sharpens rental and patrons skates as needed
Accepts rental and contract payments as needed
Monitors all on and off-ice activities throughout the building
Practices good customer service at all times
Monitors and cleans all bathrooms, locker rooms, seating areas, activity rooms,
and employees areas
Operates machinery including the ice resurfacing machine and floor scrubber
Monitors, reports, and corrects all safety hazards for both patrons and employees
Supervises part time skate guard staff
Reports in writing to Arena Manager all problems or potential problems
Follows all Oak Lawn Park District Cash Control procedures
Rule enforcement
Knowledge of First Aid and CPR
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist with maintenance and general cleaning in all public and common areas
Assist with other Ice Arena Special events as needed
Attend staff trainings as required
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
To work alone and unsupervised during extended portions of shifts
To work longer shifts when designated, if the need arises
To lift 20 pounds or more
To set up tables and chairs and other equipment as needed
To work with a variety of cleaning products and chemicals safely
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
To work alone on any shift as the occasion arises
To work very early in the morning or very late at night
To work a varied schedule as required
To have the ability to work with staff and patrons in a relaxed and friendly
manner
Ability to use good judgment in the absence of supervision
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Employee works in a changing environment ranging from lobby
temperatures to on-ice conditions with colder temperatures and changing
humidity levels.
Employee will be exposed to chemicals and fumes and will need to action to
properly control these
Employee must be able to work indoors and outdoors on occasion in all
weather conditions
