We are seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to deliver strategic talent solutions for customer organizations within the Laboratory. HR Business Partners are members of the HR Partnerships team, serving as the key HR contact with various divisions and organizations within the Laboratory. The HR Business Partner delivers the full scope of progressive HR consulting services, working in conjunction with HR groups to include other HR Business Partners, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Diversity, Labor Relations, Talent Development, and HRIS. The HR Business Partner reports to an assigned Lead HR Business Partner and serves as a trusted advisor to guide managers and supervisors towards effective working relationships and organizational success.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation to assigned organizations and make recommendations on key HR strategies, initiatives, issues, and programs
- Collaborate with directorate leaders, division directors, and group leaders, and other support staff members (finance, quality, communications, etc.) to address a variety of topics such as business and workforce planning, performance management, and organizational development
- Team with other HR professionals and line managers to develop effective solutions and strategies to support ORNL objectives
- Counsel assigned organizations on interpretation and application of relevant policies and regulations for situation-specific issues
- Facilitate resolution of HR concerns and advise on alternative approaches to resolving issues and opportunities for improvement
- Support and/or lead basic HR process improvements and HR projects, with effective change management principles
- Provide thoughtful and tactful communications with the utmost of diplomacy, treating others with dignity and respect, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality

Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Arts or Science in Business, Human Resources, or other related fields
- Certifications from human resources professional organizations such as the Society for Human Resource Management, HR Certification Institute, and WorldatWork
- Experience working in a science and technology company, industry, and/or as a government contractor
- Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships at all levels including senior executives
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus; ability to build relationships, influence and collaborate at all levels
- High level of professionalism, personal integrity, and dependability
- Adept at working in a cross-functional environment in a highly collaborative manner
- Extremely organized and able to conceptualize solutions when faced with complex challenges
- Experience with Success Factors is a plus
