General Summary
Provides specialized skills necessary in the timely preparation of payroll. Ensures accuracy of the paycheck data in the payroll system and as needed corrects errors before payroll finalization. Prepares reports and assists employees and department representatives regarding payroll related issues. Reviews and processes employee payroll related transactions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as County Merit System rules. May issue checks and reconcile check activity. Provides on-line attendance and makes inquiries for information regarding department employees. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to provide labor distribution information and to complete assignments.
Required Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test. 2. Have had at least four (4) years of responsible full-time work experience in human resources, payroll, benefits, or employee records. NOTE: Coursework at an accredited college, university, or business school in a related area may be substituted for up to three (3) years of the experience listed in 2. above on a year-for-year basis.Pay Range
