About Oakland Leaf
Oakland Leaf was founded in 2001 by a collective of East Oakland educators intent on empowering youth voice. For the past 20 years, Oakland Leaf has evolved into a highly regarded leader in the fields of youth development and out-of-school time learning.
Oakland Leaf facilitates culturally relevant out-of-school time programming for approximately 1,000 K-12 East Oakland students through seven after school programs at public elementary and middle schools across East Oakland, one paid internship programs for high school students, and two 5-week summer camps - one for elementary children and one for middle school youth. Our programming emphasizes social and emotional learning, creative expression, critical thinking, leadership development, social justice, college and career readiness, and includes a diverse range of enrichment opportunities including S.T.E.M. activities, sports, poetry, visual arts, dance, literacy, community impact projects, and more.

Summary of Position
The Program Assistant will be responsible for clerical operations, attendance record keeping, and management of sports logistics. This role will assist with ensuring the program operations run efficiently and smoothly. This position reports to the site specific Program Manager.
Looking to fill positions at Ascend and Bret Harte.
Specific Responsibilities
- Accurately input attendance data in the assigned student information system
- Provide accurate reporting for daily attendance of students
- Monitor the submission of student attendance records by afterschool staff
- Process and verify student absence information from parents and/or guardians.
- Generate and interpret daily and weekly attendance reports including mandated monthly Average Daily Attendance
- Implement protocols for student sport logistics such as managing rosters, games, and attending league meetings
- Fill in for class coverage, as needed, in the event of a coverage gap
- Provide TB clearance and background clearance from FBI and DOJ
- Provide 48 semester college units or pass the Instructional Aide exam
- Ability to communicate with youth, parents, teachers, school administrators, and various other stakeholders
- Must have good communication, computer, typing and alphanumeric data entry skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suites

- Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required

- Required to work some nights for events
- Must be able to lift up to 25lb
Work Schedule and Period
- Note: This is a part time, seasonal position.
- Schedule is typically, Monday through Friday, 1 PM to 6:30 PM (exception of Wednesday and Friday 11:45 am to 6:15 PM) for 180 work days from Monday, August 12, 2024 through Thursday, June 5, 2025 excluding school holidays and breaks. Schedule is set depending on program schedule.
Compensation
- $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience
- Paid school breaks and holidays
