Overview:
The student employee is primarily responsible for the accurate sorting and delivering of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages. They are also responsible for assisting the copy center with completing print shop orders. Occasionally, they will provide backup services to the other Auxiliary Services units such as the bookstore. This position is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the operations of different business units as well as hands on experience with professional print equipment. They will learn how to professionally engage with different administrative departments, the fundamentals of order fulfillment, and the importance of accuracy and organization.

Hours Available: 15-20 hours/week (up to 15-30 hrs/week during summer)
Schedule Flexibility: Fall & Spring weekly schedule is fixed based on student availability, Summer schedule must include 12-3 pm Monday- Thursday.
Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes:
- Sort incoming mail for distribution (CD)
- Deliver mail and packages to offices in the main building and Lee Center. (CD)
- Pick up and sort outgoing mail from offices in the main building and Lee Center. (CD)
- Pick up Iron Mountain boxes from departments as needed for offsite document storage. (CD)
- Assist copy center with completing print jobs and required finishing such as cutting, binding, laminating, etc. (TC, CD)
- Use copy center equipment to produce business cards, books, notepads, buttons, and other products. (TC, CD)
- Deliver completed copy center orders to end user. (PF)
- Organize and maintain supplies in the Office Product Exchange area. (CD)
- Organize and maintain supplies and positive customer service to all staff and students. (PF, CM)
- Occasionally provide back-up support to the bookstore. (CM, TC)
- General office duties such as answering phones, filing and data entry. (PF, CM)
Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs)
Qualified candidates will have the following competencies and skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be proactive and able to work independently.
- Basic computer knowledge such as email, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google docs, or ability to learn.
- Ability to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.
- Ability to maintain professional positive and courteous attitude when working with all customers and staff.
- Ability to learn and operate production printers.
- Ability to push or pull a cart to deliver packages to every office in the main campus.
- Ability to lift up to 40lb.
- Must be enrolled in at least six credit hours during Fall and Spring Semesters at Oakton College.
- Must be enrolled in at least one summer credit course or be enrolled in at least six credit hours in the subsequent fall semester to be eligible to work during Summer semester.
- Must have GPA of at least 2.0 at the time of hire or be first semester at Oakton College.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
