Banquet Captain/Supervisor

The Oasis Conference & Event Center is located in Loveland, OH and is owned by Heritage Golf Group. The Conference Center is the perfect place for business meetings, social events, fundraisers, wedding ceremonys and receptions and anything inbetween. The Conference Center is also connected to the Oasis Golf Club which is a private golf club, with an Arnold Palmer design golf course, swimming pool and dining room.

Positions: Banquet Captain

All Positions Report Directly To: Banquet Manager

Compensation: $16.00 an hour plus service fee - average pay runs from $30 to $33 an hour.

Duties: Supervise the banquet functions for the club when the Banquet Manager is not available or assist the Banquet Manager during the function. Ensure that member satisfaction standards are consistently attained.

Specifically, the Banquet Captain must:

• Perform related banquet set-up tasks.
• Clean all assigned work areas banquet areas.
• Advise the Banquet Manager or Sales Director of any guest complaints as soon as they occur.
• Always wear and ensure all banquet staff wear appropriate uniform as prescribed by policy and maintain personal cleanliness.
• Attend/hold pre-shift meetings as requested by the Banquet Manager.
• Ensure members and guests are greeted and welcomed by appropriate staff.
• Assist in training banquet staff, including servers, bartenders and houseman.
• Perform closing functions such as removing linen, busing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting the room for next function.
• Ensure the Conference Center and other club areas are secure at the end of the event.
• Consistently follow all sanitation-related requirements, including those related to personal hygiene.
• Have a thorough knowledge of and the ability to attend, work and supervise any function that has been booked.
• Have a basic understanding of menus, recipes, wines, inventory levels, serving procedures and any other pertinent operation information to “think on your feet” when banquet guests request special services.
• Ensure tickets are properly processed.
• Demonstrate dedication and loyalty to the organization, as well as a strong work ethic and a goal of excellence and service orientation.
• Be able to stand and walk for up to five (5) hours without sitting.
• Be able to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds. Able to push, pull, lift or carry 100 pounds of weight from storage areas to service areas with a hand dolly.
• Be able to work flexible schedules to accommodate business needs.
• The ability to adapt quickly and calmly when faced with changing situations or client needs.
• Be able to effectively and confidently communicate in a clear, concise and calm manner.
• Individual must maintain current TIPS certification for the safe service of alcohol.

Qualifications:

• Previous Food and Beverage experience preferred.
• Food Handler and Alcohol Server Certifications as required by State and City.
• Good communication skills
• Ability to communicate and follow instructions.
• You are comfortable working in both indoor and occasional outdoor environments.
