Position Summary: The General Accountant is primarily responsible for financial accounting and reporting including participating in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
Position Responsibilities: Essential
- Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Close:

- Participate in the accounting close processes for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
- Record journal entries accurately to document financial transactions.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for the specified accounting periods.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Cost of Sales / Operating Expense Analysis:

- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies by reconciling and analyzing balance sheet accounts.
- Reconcile Credit Card activity
- Review of operating expenses / accounts payable daily
- Bank Reconciliations and Expense Reports:
-
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Review employee expense reports for compliance with IRS regulations and with company departmental and account structure.
- Financial Documentation and Auditing:

- Substantiate financial transactions by reviewing and auditing relevant documents.
- Assist in preparing for the annual financial statement audit by providing assigned reports, schedules, and roll-forwards.
- Accounting Procedural Support:

- Research and interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other accounting standards and pronouncements.
- Address accounting procedural questions from colleagues.
- Internal Controls and Security:

- Maintain financial security and separation of duties by adhering to internal controls.
- Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
- Two or more years of accounting experience.
- Proficient in accounting software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software (preferably Microsoft Office suite).
- Mathematical skills – the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Language skills – ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, co-workers, customers, etc.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve, apply reason, take initiative, use judgment, and perform multiple concurrent tasks
Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and to adapt to an environment of rapid growth and change
Mental and Physical Demands (per ADA guidelines)
- Physical Demands: Sitting and working on the computer for long periods of time. Occupation requires this activity more than 66% of the time (5.5 hrs/day)
- Travel Demands: May require travel to conferences and other continuing professional education opportunities. Travel will be infrequent.
Salary Range (based on experience): $67,000 - $70,000, based on experience
