Position Summary:

Under general direction, the IT Support Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, and support of desktop computer hardware, related peripherals, and software. Including, but not limited to providing support for Windows and Mac operating systems and products. Works directly with level 1 support to manage and address tickets.  Maintains an accurate IT asset inventory; and manages the new user on-boarding/off-boarding and hardware refresh cycles.  Support of specialized software and hardware for a diverse range of staff that include both on-site and remote staff.  Primary contact for the staff regarding on-site work or knowledge of specialized systems/software.  Provides basic guidance and training on hardware and software use for staff.   This role conducts research, analysis and evaluation of desktop hardware and software and maintains knowledge of the industry to be able to provide input that is used to make purchase decisions or set strategic direction. Performs related work as required.

I.     Position Responsibilities:  Essential 

  • Manage the deployment and recovery of hardware for staff on-boarding and off-boarding
  • Administer and maintain the PC/laptop imaging and setup process
  • Maintain an accurate inventory and asset tracking for all hardware including accessories, peripherals, and other items
  • Provide on-site and specialized software support for personal computer/laptop hardware and related peripherals
  • Provide software and hardware support to a diverse range of staff including remote staff in-person or over the phone
  • Provide guidance and training to end-user community
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and provide input used to make purchasing decisions or set strategic directions
  • Ensures the smooth operation of IT infrastructure, security, and contributes to a positive user experience
  • Respond to user requests and incidents via phone, email, or ticketing system
  • On-site during normal business hours
  • Occasional off-hour support may be required
  • Other duties as assigned

II.     Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education

  • Excellent problem solving and customer service skills
  • Proficient organization, written, and oral skills
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and applications
  • Experience with support and management of cloud-based applications such as Office 365
  • Experience in performing hardware upgrades on personal computers/laptops
  • Experience installing and upgrading software on personal computers/laptops
  • Experience with desktop support tools
  • Familiarity with Mac operating systems and applications
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced work environment
  • Ability to problem solve, apply reason, and take initiative
  • Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks and priorities
  • Highly creative and willingness to bring new ideas to the organization
  • A positive “can do” and proactive attitude in solving problems and getting results
  • A collaborative “team player” who has strong relationship building skills.  Must be able to relate well to individuals at all levels

III.    Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education 

  • 2-year degree from an accredited college, technical, business, vocational correspondence school; or equivalent work experience
  • 1 year or more of experience in a technical support role

IV.   Mental and Physical Demands (per ADA guidelines) 

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Walking between locations
  • Lifting objects up to 10lb frequently and over 10lbs to 50lb occasionally
  • Bending and crawling in confined areas such as under desks occasionally

Travel Demands:

  • May require up to 5% of time between sites or vendor locations

Full-Time, Non-Exempt, In-office Position

Hourly Rate Compensation: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour ($54,00 - $66,500)
