Job Summary:
Veterinary nurse position available at new, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital. We perform exceptional veterinary care and advanced surgical procedures. Our owners prioritize patient care and client communication. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and work well with other staff. Experience highly preferred but will train the right individual.
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians and other support staff in the examination and treatment of animals
- Perform various medical procedures, including drawing blood, catheterization and restraint, administering meds - oral and injectable
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals, staff, and pet owners
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and medical history
- Assist with surgical procedures and recovery
- Provide exceptional customer service and customer communication to pet owners both face to face and over the phone
- Maintain a high level of animal handling skills, including knowledge of animal behavior and anatomy
- Must be willing to learn clinic software, check pet owners in and out from appointments
- Stay current with new techniques, medications, and equipment through ongoing training and education
Experience:
- Previous experience as a veterinary technician/nurse/assistant or in a related field
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and anatomy
- Experience with animal restraint, animal medical care, animal surgical care
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking when necessary
- Previous position where strong communication and interpersonal skills were needed
Skills:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and veterinary patients, including giant dog breeds
- Ability to perform pet restraint and handling
-Commitment to providing high-quality pet care and exceptional customer service
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology
- Ability to medicate, TPR, assess postop incisions, bandage patients, run in-house bloodwork, perform ordered rads, etc
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
