What are the responsibilities and job description for the OBW Waterpark Supervisor position at Ocean Breeze Waterpark?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to fulfill all functions and duties of a Special Facilities Lifeguard and Clean Team Member
- Work as a lifeguard as needed
- Supervise aquatic staff to ensure proper swimmer surveillance and safety procedures are being upheld.
- Supervise clean team staff to ensure proper coverage of clean team zones and ensure cleanliness standards are being upheld.
- Conduct pre and post shift meetings
- Complete staffing for Lifeguards and Clean Team members and ensure breaks are given and staffing and time sheets are completed correctly
- Audit, record, and discuss lifeguard performance.
- Assess rescue readiness of lifeguards and remediate as necessary
- Perform opening and closing duties
- Conduct slide walking and safety inspections.
- Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation
- Provide coaching to team members
- Issue disciplinary action according to park policies and procedures as needed
- Conduct department orientation trainings
- Provide coaching to team members
- Conduct weekly in-service training sessions for Lifeguards and Ride Attendants
- Conduct a minimum of one clean team in-service per full month of operation
- Respond to alerts from aquatic staff
- Perform zone walk through and ensure zones are maintained to park standards
- Communicate effectively with leadership
- Ability to properly and safely operate equipment used
- Knowledge of the standards of care in aquatic industry
- Supervise guest experience to ensure excellent customer service is provided by team members, respond to guest concerns
- Ensure all park policies and procedures are being followed by team members
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other employees
- Provide superior customer service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner
- Assist customers with questions regarding Ocean Breeze Waterpark
- Follow park policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older preferred
- Minimum of 2 years aquatics experience or comparable supervisory experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience as a deep-water lifeguard required
- Ability to effectively speak and communicate in front of large groups of people
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Demonstrate ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership
- Be aware, attentive, and work well with others
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without resting
- Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface
- Must be able to tread water without using arms for 2 minutes
- Must have 20/25 corrected vision
- Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder
- Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights
- Ability to climb stairs
- Must be able to respond to situations quickly. This may include running to various locations around the park.
