Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Design Engineer Interior at OCMEE DESIGN located in Irvine, CA. The role involves day-to-day tasks related to interior design engineering, ensuring precision and innovation in product development.
Responsibilities
· Design and develop mechanical and electrical components and systems for automotive, aerospace, and robotics projects from concept through production.
· Use CAD software to create parts that deliver all intended functions while maintaining compatibility with adjacent engineering functions.
· Manage internal resources, interface with suppliers, and partner with all relevant organizations.
· Research, establish, and achieve targets for performance, appearance, quality, cost, timing, and mass.
· Develop criteria required for sourcing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing activities.
· Create and maintain requirements, performance specifications, and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
· Work collaboratively with studio designers to develop class A surface themes that meet manufacturing feasibility, functional, and cost targets.
· Lead supplier meetings, guide design reviews, and resolve/track cross-functional system and component issues.
· Maintain EBOMs and manage data releases in accordance with program milestones and targets.
· Consistently demonstrate a first-principles approach.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
· 3-5 years of experience in design engineering, preferably within the automotive, aerospace, or robotics industries (7 years preferred).
· High proficiency with standard 3D CAD software, preferably CATIA V5 and/or V6.
· Ability to self-direct and adapt quickly to program changes.
· Working knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Experience in the design and development of consumer products is a plus.

Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Flexibility in hours may be required based on project needs.
Location:
On-site at our design headquarters in Irvine, CA.
Flexibility to travel to launch locations for extended periods as necessary.

Salary : $72,000 - $120,000
