Overview
Genesee Lake School is currently seeking a Special Education Instructional Coach to join their Education Leadership team!!
The Special Education Instructional Coach will provide leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and effective learning environments. The SPED-IC will contribute to the increase of student learning by fostering instructional excellence throughout the building. They will also engage in the delivery of professional development, including observing teachers, coaching and modeling instructional and assessment strategies, and providing feedback that ensures effective instruction and student learning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Mentors all new and provisional teachers including conducting regular scheduled meetings to review progress, assist and oversee curriculum development, complete observations, oversee Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
- Reports progress and keeps in communication with the educational leadership team regarding new and provisional teacher development. Based on the evaluations, opportunities for professional growth will be identified and provided.
- Coaching all teachers towards becoming highly effective educators and case managers in planning and preparation outcomes.
- Keeps record of and communicates progress towards planning and preparation outcomes.
- Conducts thorough observations and delivers tailored coaching, modeling, and constructive feedback that aligns with school-specific expectations, ensuring planning and preparation outcomes.
- Based on the observations and evaluations, opportunities for professional growth will be identified and provided.
- Ensures that an equitable multi level system of positive behavior intervention supports and plans are implemented and aligned with MyPath therapeutic models.
- Coordinate and Facilitate Incident Debrief with Education Staff
- Coordinate and Facilitate Collaborative Problem Solving Meetings with Education Staff, Case Coordinators, and Therapeutic Support Specialists
- Provides relevant and timely feedback and goal setting.
- Lead and provide (as assigned) individualized education through co-planning and/or co-teaching and engage students in active learning. Ensures that classroom environment and lessons are conducive to students’ development of independence, competence and sense of self-worth. Develops and implements new and supplemental programming.
- Assists teachers and support staff in using research-based instructional and learning strategies and content specific, differentiated instruction including assisting teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing instruction.
- Determines educational needs of students and facilitates and analyzes academic data to determine curriculum needs. Assists teachers in assessing student’s functional levels, determining instructional levels and identifying educational needs; assist with facilitating appropriate educational and transition assessment.
- Creates an environment of trust and respect that promotes teacher engagement in a student-centered coaching model, builds a collaborative learning environment, and fosters a culture of continuous professional growth within the school.
- Reviews and becomes familiar with all education history material on each incoming student, including current academic goals, safety plans and is flexible to meet changing student needs.
- Reads student reports, records, memos, ect. to remain updated on treatment and overall organizational information.
- Applies knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations, and precedents in the monitoring of IEP compliance for all students; assures each student has an updated IEP in the Student Information System.
- Functions within legal, licensing, school, and professional standards in maintaining a therapeutic and educational environment for students.
- Maintains abreast of current trends in services and other related areas; attends conferences, workshops and other training as needed and shares this new information with the department.
- Complies with and positively reinforces with others the expectations outlined in: Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety and maintains confidentiality.
GLS CAMPUS SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS:
- Collaborates with Instructional Coaches across MyPath.
- Supports Student Services Coordinator in classroom structures and moves.
- Oversees Pioneer Creation Station ensuring students and staff have access to tools and technology.
- Participates in the leadership of the MyPath Teach Committee.
- Support Educator Effectiveness through Charlotte Danielson’s Formative Assessments.
- With support of the learning coordinator, implement coaching meetings including recurring Care Connect Support meetings with teachers to address student-related issues, plan interventions, and discuss instructional strategies.
- Engage in Curriculum workgroup and Power Standards Workgroup.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education required.
- Special Education Teacher Licensure by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction required.
- 3 Years Teaching Experience preferred.
- Completion of Instructional Coaching Professional Development.
- Ability and willingness to implement approved de-escalation and intervention techniques as in-serviced by School.
- Requires mental and emotional ability to remain calm, polite, and function effectively during stressful/emergency situations, and with students who may be unruly, demanding, cognitively challenged or exhibit behavioral outbursts.
- Conducts self in positive, respectful and collaborative manner in accordance with the MyPath Beliefs and Behaviors demonstrating proactive actions and decision making to ensure supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment; is a role model to others. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing with Company leaders, external partners and employees, maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Schedule: Monday- Friday; 40 hrs weekly/FT; Year Round/Non-Contract
- Salary: $60-$65k annually; based on level of Education and Experience

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
