What are the responsibilities and job description for the Title IX and ADA Compliance Specialist position at Ogden-Weber Technical College?

The Title IX & ADA Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the college’s compliance with Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other relevant federal and state regulations. This role oversees investigations related to Title IX complaints, ensures accessibility compliance, and develops training and education programs for faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, the specialist monitors institutional compliance efforts and provides guidance to college leadership on best practices related to discrimination, harassment, and accommodations.

This position reports to the Human Resource Director.

1. Serve as the primary point of contact for ADA and Title IX related compliance issues, including policy interpretation, training, and reporting.
2. Conduct and oversee investigations related to Title IX complaints, ensuring timely and thorough resolution in accordance with institutional policies and legal requirements.
3. Ensure compliance with the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other disability-related laws by providing guidance on accessibility and coordinating accommodations, while collaborating with the facilities department on campus accessibility efforts.
4. Collaborate with all college departments to ensure a coordinated approach to compliance efforts.
5. Develop and implement training programs for students, faculty, and staff regarding Title IX, ADA, discrimination, harassment, and related compliance topics.
6. Monitor and track reports of discrimination, harassment, and accessibility concerns to identify trends and areas for improvement.
7. Maintain and update institutional policies and procedures related to Title IX, ADA, and compliance regulations.
8. Serve as a liaison with external agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure institutional compliance with federal and state laws.
9. Oversee compliance audits, including gathering data and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
10. Provide guidance and support to students and employees requesting accommodations under ADA.
11. Stay current on changes in laws and regulations related to Title IX, ADA, and higher education compliance to ensure institutional adherence.
12. Facilitate and serve on college committees, as assigned. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Disability Studies, Human Services or related field required.
2. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in compliance, investigations, or related areas preferably within higher education.
3. Strong knowledge of Title IX, ADA, and other state and federal laws, and regulations.
4. Experience conducting investigations, writing reports, and maintaining confidentiality in sensitive matters.
5. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across departments.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite.

Experience Preferred:
1. ADA training and/or certification is preferred.
2. Title IX training and/or certification is preferred.
3. Spanish speaking proficiency desirable.

Physical Requirements:
1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform most work; however, there will be some walking; standing; bending; reaching; and carrying light items. Special physical demands are not required of the position.
2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
3. Typically, the work will be performed on site at the main campus between the hours of 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Fridays. Hours subject to change.

Must pass a thorough background investigation.

Schedule

Work hours are flexible within the standard business hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; may require some evenings
