The Emergency Medical Services is a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. They are responsible for Certification of all emergency medical service and fire service providers in the state of Ohio and certification of fire and EMS instructors; Accreditation and chartering of fire and EMS training institutions and approval of EMS continuing education sites; Collection and analysis of EMS incident data; “Lead agency” for the state’s trauma system; Coordination of the EMS for Children (EMSC) program; and Regulation of medical transportation services (air medical, ambulance, MoICU, and ambulette).

Under the general direction of the Emergency Medical Services Chief of Education & Testing, provide secretarial & non-routine administrative support:
- Maintain & track examination development activities; Update all examination blueprints, test plans & examination specifications; Utilize Scorpion item banking software to import & code items into master item bank;
- Collaborate with various publishers to coordinate & receive item banks;
- Proof read all items to ensure proper spelling, grammar & style;
- Refer items to appropriate staff that require additional review;
- Schedule & coordinate meetings with identified subject matter experts (SME) to review all items & ensure specific fire & EMS service-related content is included & firm implementation deadlines are met;
- Prepare related correspondence, detailed assignments & reports in support of all item review & development meetings;
- Communicate decisions, directives &/or assignments to appropriate staff;
- Represent EMS or agency on inter-divisional task forces or committees;
- Coordinate acquisition & maintenance of office equipment;
- Assist administrator with scheduled periodic review of all pertinent examination performance metrics; Compose, review & summarize examination related reports to include pass/fail statistics, program & state performance & item level metrics; Analyze various relationship trends;
- Create various PowerPoint presentations & materials for EMS & fire stakeholder groups to convey statewide program examination performance metrics & assist in developing delivery styles & methodologies that facilitate understanding of complex topics;
- Ensure staff is advised of performance trends; Assist with improving data visualization & sharing of statewide performance data;
- Take meeting minutes & distribute to appropriate staff; Provide clerical support for committees, subcommittees, workgroups, & other administrative professionals within the Division;
- Maintain inventory of general office supplies & order as needed; Maintain files; Receive, open, log & distribute mail;
- Prepare routine forms;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief of Education & Testing.
- Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college; 12 mos. exp. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
- Or 12 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 2, 16872.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
