Job Title: Case Manager - Promotora Specialist
Reports To: Program Coordinator
Hours: Full Time – 40 hours/week
Primary Service Area: Greater Cleveland Area
Provide non-clinical, culturally-specific, linguistically-appropriate case management and support services to Latino/Hispanic victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, family violence, and other victims of crime upon request. Provides confidential services to encourage victims in seeking assistance.
Responsibilities
- Provide immediate response to victims of abuse or violence.
- Establish client goals and coordinate an effective case management.
- Provide legal, medical, and personal advocacy.
- Maintain confidential client files in an organized and secure manner in order to ensure that cases are handled promptly and efficiently.
- Work with other program staff and supervisors to create safety and case management plans for victims.
- Communicate effectively on current case statuses with supervisors and other Promotora Specialists on an on-going and weekly-basis.
- Explain victim’s rights available to promote safety.
- Provide resources regarding identified client needs (e.x. emergency shelter, housing, childcare, legal services, clinical resources, medical services, etc.).
- Provide advocacy for clients in case-related appointments and/or court proceedings.
- Provide support in the coordination and implementation of program and other department activities.
- Provide outreach efforts of department services through System Advocacy, Education and Public Awareness materials and activities.
- Attend community events and perform community outreach including on evenings and weekends.
- Have the ability to lift and move boxes of at least twenty pounds.
- Maintains a clear and accurate log of mileage incurred while performing program duties and submits these logs to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Other duties, as needed.
Qualifications
- Read, understand, speak, and write English and Spanish fluently (required).
- Knowledgeable on Latino culture (required).
- Knowledgeable on immigration issues, language access barriers, victim services, health needs, and housing issues (preferred).
- Associates Degree (preferred) and/or 3 years of experience providing services and case management to abuse victims.
- Valid state driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle and willing to incur travel.
- Willingness to provide victim services 24 hours/7 days a week on an on-call-basis.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to input, retrieve, and format documentation via various databases/software
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
