The London, Ohio, Job and Family Services is looking for a dedicated Eligibility Referral Specialist 2 to join our team in a full-time role. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals and families by determining eligibility for income maintenance programs, such as Medicaid, Cash Assistance, and SNAP (food assistance).
As an Eligibility Referral Specialist 2, you will be responsible for interviewing applicants, processing applications, and maintaining ongoing communication to ensure recipients remain eligible for benefits. Your work will directly impact people's lives by connecting them to necessary resources, ensuring they receive the appropriate assistance.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in public assistance or related field preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a related field or a combination of education and experience preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications:Valid Ohio driver's license
- Skills & Abilities:
o Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
o Proficient in data entry, document scanning, and the use of Ohio Client Scheduling, EDMS, Pilot forms, and related systems.
o Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with applicants, coworkers, and external service providers.
o Ability to handle sensitive cases and confidential information with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- 45% Eligibility Determination: Interview public assistance applicants to determine eligibility for programs (Cash, Medicaid, SNAP, etc.). Gather and verify necessary information to process and validate applications. Maintain nursing home and waiver caseloads.
- 40% Ongoing Case Management: Communicate with recipients to confirm continued eligibility, process changes, and adjust benefits as necessary. Refer cases for overpayments or investigations and address under-issuance issues.
- 5% Expedited Services & Referrals: Screen applicants for expedited services, sch!3dule appointments, and refer clients to other services as needed.
- 5% Administrative Duties: Perform scanning and data entry through Ohio Client Scheduling, EDMS, and other related systems.
- 5% Administrative Duties: Other related duties as assigned.
