SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Service Line Nurse Manager manages the care of patients by assisting in the development and implementation of the policies and procedures, program criteria and guidelines, development of marketing and educational materials, etc. This position reports to the Vice President of Quality, Provider Relations and Outreach.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Co-lead Co-Management meetings (with key stakeholders), agreement principles, including binders, and agenda/minutes.
2. Lead sub-committee level meetings focused on patient navigation, methods, and processes.
3. Collaborates with the nurse managers and senior leadership in relation to the service line and hospital growth initiatives.
4. Lead execution of the service line operational strategy.
5. Support, communicate, and assist with facilitation of strategic initiatives.
6. Identifying resources and partnering with physician leads to develop and implement new clinical programs.
7. Assist in the development and oversight of patient education programs and materials centered around the service line programs.
8. Participates, as needed, in the education of the patient and/or family regarding the patient’s clinical condition, treatment, postoperative course, warning signs of potential complications, and the patient’s recovery.
9. Assists with development of patient education and staff development for service line programs.
10. Advocates for the unique needs of each patient to ensure that needs are met using facility and community resources.
11. Assists with the implementation and ongoing review of physician pre-printed order sets and supply/equipment needs of the service line programs.
12. Assists with marketing campaigns for the service lines.
13. Assists in outreach efforts to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key customers within the community (facilities, hospitals, social services, and physicians).
14. Develops quality assurance monitoring program regarding patient outcomes and satisfaction.
15. Oversees performance improvement initiatives for the service line programs.
16. Utilize appropriate database registries, certifications, and external benchmarks to deliver outstanding clinical care.
17. Leads initiatives to maintain current Centers of Excellence and obtain additional Centers of Excellence as determined by senior leadership.
18. Maintain databases required by Centers of Excellence standards.
19. Participates in professional growth and development opportunities by attending various meetings, conferences, and courses.
20. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows departmental and Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital (OVSH) guidelines related to guest services activities in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
21. Adheres to and follows OVSH’s policies, procedures, and compliance program; works within the set program budget.
22. Assists with onboarding new practitioners.
23. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Degree in nursing is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. Service line program background or equivalent work experience.
3. CPR (BLS) required.
4. Previous experience with an accreditation process preferred.
5. Proven leadership experience.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. Can adequately perform the essential functions of this job; as well as being capable of meeting its functional and environmental requirements.
