What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Appraiser position at Okanogan County Assessor's Office?
The Okanogan County Assessor’s office is now accepting applications for the position of Residential Appraiser II. This is a journey level in Residential Appraiser under the supervision of the Chief Appraiser and performs field inspections to appraise new and existing residential structures and land for the purpose of establishing a value upon which property taxes will be assessed. The Appraiser positions are ranked I, II and III, with salary commensurate to the rank of certifications ranging from $22.74 for an appraiser II to $29.00 for an appraiser III. The County also provides a generous benefit package which includes, 13 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, retirement, medical/dental/vision, and life and disability insurance.
This position is responsible for valuing real estate for revaluation purposes including residential, recreational and agricultural land each year. Also responsible to measure, grade and verify the condition of existing structures and new construction, as well as being responsible for the annual valuing of new construction on a county wide basis. Up to 600 building permits must be physically inspected during the new construction phase of the property tax calendar. This is a progressive position starting at appraiser II and upon completion of IAAO and DOR tested certification and class hours goes up to Appraiser III.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Requires a valid Washington State Drivers License
- Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly the full scope of responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates (2 year) degree with a major course work in business administration, real estate, appraisal, economics or a related field of study.
