We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists and optometrists in providing quality eye care to patients. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
Duties
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient histories and documenting relevant information
- Conduct various diagnostic tests, such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging
- Administer eye medications as directed by the ophthalmologist or optometrist
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including pre-operative assessments and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records
- Provide patient education on eye health, treatment options, and preventive measures
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operations
Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology
- Proficiency in ophthalmic procedures and equipment operation
- Familiarity with medical coding for accurate billing and insurance claims
- Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to explain procedures and alleviate concerns
- Competency in taking vital signs and recording accurate measurements
- Proficient in maintaining organized medical records and ensuring patient confidentiality
