Job Summary:


We are seeking a motivated Ast Supervisor with experience in roofing, masonry, and Building interiors to join our Facilities Management team. They will be responsible for the completion of tasks and projects related to structural trades. They will assist the supervisor with determining any maintenance needs, reviewing scope of work, estimations, scheduling of staff and ordering of materials. They will be responsible for the oversight of safety training, inspection of tools, equipment, vehicles, and quality control of completed work. They will ensure requests for work are completed accurately. This candidate will be expected to interact with customers and other employees in a professional manner. The candidate will be required to work shift work when work cannot be accomplished during regular hours and when the management staff deems necessary. Overtime is an essential function of this position and may require work during non-business hours which include evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays. Job requirements include occasional use of respiratory equipment; therefore, an individual must be able to pass a medical exam to assure physical ability to wear, use, and perform work in respirator equipment. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain a personal cell phone and will be required to be continually be available both during and after normal working hours. The candidate must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use. The candidate must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during non-business hours (evenings, weekends, & when OSU is closed). The candidate must work safely and promote a safe work environment. Education & Experience



Position Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

High School/GED.

Six (6) years of prior successful work experience with five (5) of those years working in a building trade; OR Two (2) years post-secondary education in the building trades or technical field with four (4) years of prior successful work experience with three of those years working in a building trade

Experience in building trades work that can include diagnosing, renovating, and preserving facilities. Basic computer skills including proficient use in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)

Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver’s license. A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Must have a knowledge of commercial roofing – Epdm, PVC, 3-tab, architectural shingles, and modified bitumen.

Must be a highly motivated team player with the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships, communicate effectively, as well as proactively solve problems.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with contractors and departmental representatives.

Ability to work independently with successful outcomes.

Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to clients served, staff, and the general public.

Skilled in conflict resolution and creative problem solving.

Ability to evaluate others’ performance and ensure adherence to stated standards.

Considerable knowledge of methods, standards and equipment used within the facility maintenance, repair, and renovation industry.

Ability to estimate costs and assess bids.

Ability to operate a calculator, smart phone, equipment software, hand tools, personal computer, and a handheld electronic device.

Basic knowledge of building codes.

Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.

Must work safely and promote a safe environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical degree

Two (2) years of post-secondary education in building trades or technical field; WITH

Six (6) years of prior successful maintenance experience in roofing or structural trades

Prior supervisory experience preferred.
