Biology Tenure Track FacultySalary: $60,920 - $84,711Department/Division: Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, & Health (MESH)Supervisor: Dean of MESHStart Date: Fall Quarter, but may start Winter QuarterClosing Date: November 4th, 2022Priority Consideration: August 26th, 2022This position is considered high demand and is subject to a 10% wage increase. Olympic College is recruiting to fill a full-time, tenure track Biology faculty position beginning Fall Quarter 2022. This position will report to the Dean for Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, & Health Division. Olympic College seeks faculty who are dedicated to student-centered learning and to fostering an equitable and inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of employing culturally-responsive pedagogy, utilizing disaggregated data to guide instruction, and teaching and mentoring minoritized student populations. Olympic College enrolls a racially and socioeconomically diverse student body of approximately 10,500 students annually. Among them, 4% are African American, 5% Latinx, 1% are Native American/Alaska Native, 1% are Pacific Islander, 7 % are Asian, 62% are White, and 15% are multiracial. A comprehensive community college, we offer instruction in Basic Studies to include awarding a high school diploma, GED preparation, and English to Speakers of Other Languages; academic transfer and workforce education degrees and certificates; four applied baccalaureate degrees, and community education in our two-county region.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Teach evening, distance, and branch campus courses when required;Provide quality teaching including related preparation, grading, and record keeping;Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested;Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities;Provide student advising for career/academic pathways, mentoring, and support;Contribute to the development of composition curriculum and student learning outcomes;Contribute to the assessment of student learning outcomes annually;Punctual communication with students, faculty, staff, and administrators;Maintain physical office hours for student consultation;Attend faculty, department, and division meetings and serve on college committees;Serve on appropriate college and community committees;Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.Program Specific DutiesPrimary teaching responsibility is Anatomy & Physiology lectures & Cadaver-based lab; Human Biology and other biology courses may be assigned as needed. provide high levels of energy, creativity, and motivation to design and implement effective and innovative teaching an learning practicesMaintain up-to-date knowledge of biology and trends in community college and science educationfacilitate student learning through in-class and out-of-class activitiesteach assigned courses by college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelinesmaintain accurate records of students and complete forms and records as required.Maintain office hours for student consultations and advising.Attend faculty, department, division, and college meetings, and participate in college governance. Complete related responsibilities as per the current collective bargaining agreement.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Terms of EmploymentThis is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load. Conditions of EmploymentPrior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
