What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-production Office Assistant for Dance Competition position at On Point National Dance Competition?
It has been said that “great things come in small packages”. On Point National Dance Competition is exactly that package. We are a small, women and family-owned business offering a full-time hourly opportunity for a logistical and creative powerhouse to learn all aspects of our event-production business and add value to our brand. Together we produce dance competitions for amateur youth dancers that occur offsite three months of the year.
This position is busy and engaged all day long with a variety of responsibilities. During our event season, this individual will be directly responsible for preparing event paperwork and everything needed to travel with our crews. Our headquarters are an office/warehouse combination. Tasks will be performed in both areas and involve all aspects of our events – staff schedules, awards, merchandise, etc.
An ideal candidate would offer the following core competencies:
- Proficiency using the Microsoft office suite in a PC format – specifically Word, Excel and Publisher.
- A high level of organization as our days are busy and multi-faceted.
- Precision and attention to detail as our pre-production tasks directly affect the production of our events.
- Team-oriented nature and ability to work with directors in person and remotely.
- The ability to manage deadlines quickly. Our schedule from February to May is hectic and can be stressful. There are a lot of things happening all at once and often with a narrow timeline. You will be able to thrive in this environment.
- Ability to prioritize and manage each day’s assignments.
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs independently as it relates to moving merchandise, loading equipment to travel, etc. in the warehouse.
- Reliability to report to work – rain or shine – during our competition season.
As a small company we all often participate in tasks simultaneously, working together to ensure the success of our events and the operation of the office. Candidates should be positive, flexible individuals who are enthusiastic about participating in all aspects of the business. Knowledge of dance is helpful but not required.
This position is Monday – Friday at our Hillsborough, NJ headquarters. Hours have some flexibility. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skill set.
