Under assigned supervisor, the Billing Specialist performs a wide variety of financial and operational support functions to document billing for services. This position prepares interoffice Excel reports for staff and communicates with liaisons for external funders regarding billing.

This is largely a sedentary role in a professional office environment; however, some active office tasks are required. This would require the ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. This position requires the ability to move file boxes, office products and supplies. The employee is occasionally required to lift items up to 50 pounds and regularly lifts 10 to 15 pounds. The position requires visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if need; and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, computer, and copier

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly reports to DCFS CAPU department regarding admissions, discharges, and changes for clients
- Prepares and submits billings to the DCFS monthly
- Generates statistics for perspective sites/clients
- Prepares/reconciles and applies payments received from the state on a monthly basis
- Resolves any errors in billing with DCFS
- Prepares check requests for sites, as it relates to billing
- Prepares affirmative action reports
- Supervises clerical staff
- Handles all calls from Supervisors, Case Managers and Foster Parents as it relates to processing 906’s and payments
- Enters and maintains clients into SDS
- Maintains caseload reports for workers
- Maintains monthly client tracking for perspective sites
- Provides care and treatment to youth that is strength based, trauma informed, and person centered.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary
- High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to deal effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information in a clear, concise manner
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment
- High degree of accuracy in performing mathematical calculations
- Ability to prioritize projects and display strong problem-solving skill
