Purpose & Scope of Responsibility:
The Production Trainer is responsible for training machine operators on the production floor, ensuring they fully understand their job responsibilities, safety protocols, and efficiency techniques. The primary goal of this role is to enhance worker performance, maintain product quality, and improve overall productivity within the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct orientation and onboarding "Buddy" training for new hires.
- Provide on-the-job training to machine operators.
- Develop and implement efficient production processes for all department product lines.
- Continuously train new and existing team members on methods to improve production efficiency.
- Educate operators on proper job performance techniques.
- Coordinate personnel transfers and break schedules.
- Perform technical tasks such as setup, teardown, or press operation when not engaged in training.
- Ensure compliance with defined manufacturing procedures and quality standards.
- Monitor and address scrap production to reduce waste.
- Ensure line workers and operators maintain optimal performance levels.
- Inspect production lines regularly to ensure adherence to safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Assist in investigating and evaluating quality defects, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized production area to prevent safety hazards.
- Monitor team compliance with company policies and manufacturing procedures.
- Provide coaching and corrective feedback in collaboration with Team Leads and Supervisors.
- Track production hours, staffing reports, and discrepancies.
- Report production line speed, waste, and other key performance metrics.
- Oversee equipment settings, complete required documentation, and ensure accuracy.
- Train team members on all equipment used in the production process.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and relevant departments.
- Address quality concerns in coordination with Quality Assurance (QA) teams.
- Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of training programs.
- Provide timely feedback to production management to enhance overall department performance.
- Develop and implement training plans and procedures for all production areas.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: GED or High School Diploma required.
- Certified in Train the Trainer program.
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Prior training experience preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor employees.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to implement effective training and production solutions.
- Bilingual candidates strongly preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to stand for 8 to 12 hours.
- Visual accuracy for measuring fluids, reading calipers, and reviewing job details.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and squat.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Withstand temperature fluctuations due to seasonal changes and machinery operations.
- Perform wrist torque movements for manually tightening bolts.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing/production facility with exposure to loud noises, chemicals, heat, and cold temperatures.
- Shift work may be required, including nights and weekends.
- Work involves handling fiberglass materials, requiring appropriate PPE and strict adherence to safety guidelines.
- Strict attendance policy (point-based system) enforced to maintain operational efficiency.
