Overview
One Voice is a non-profit, civic engagement organization that is seeking a motivated and detail- oriented individual to join our accounting team as an entry level Accounting Specialist/Bookkeeper. This is a full-time position that will provide hands-on experience in core accounting functions, including general ledger preparation, account reconciliation, year-end audit preparation, support of budget and forecast activities and financial reporting, under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Key Responsibilities
· Record day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payables/receivables, and general ledger entries.
· Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial records.
· Collaborate with the other finance personnel to support overall department goals and objectives.
· Assist with the preparation of documentation for audits and financial reviews.
· Assist in ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met.
· Prepare and distribute accounts payable checks.
· Answer inquiries from outside vendors regarding accounts payable and related matters.
· Prepare or assist in preparing any reports or returns, including 1099’s required by State or Federal agencies.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
· Perform additional financial and administrative tasks assigned by CFO, as required.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
· Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably in a non-profit setting.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
· Effective communications skills to work collaboratively with team members.
· Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
· Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
· Understanding of the mission and values of non-profit organizations.
