The work involves responsibility for the reproduction of material through photocopying processes. The work entails setting up and operating, xerographic, microfilming, blueprinting or related devices for the purpose of making a photocopy duplicate of graphic or printed matter upon the surface of film, prepared paper or other material suitable to accept image or printed transfer. The work also involves the processing of microfilm and photo reproduction of maps.
This class differs from that of an Office Machine Operator in that specialize training or experience is a prerequisite for job performance; it is normally found in a centralized office that furnishes high volume and multifaceted reproduction utilizing equipment specifically made for mass reproduction; and the only function of the class is the operation of the equipment and its attending tasks.
An employee in this class typically exercises no supervision of subordinate employees. The nature of the work requires neatness and attention to detail. Work assignments are received through work orders, allowing the employee to prioritize workflow. An administrative supervisor is responsible for review of the employee's work via observation of results and comments from those for whom the work is performed. Does related work as required.
Prepares machine for operations by obtaining supplies, loading machines, and making routine alignments and adjustments.
Tests machine(s) during operation.
Performs minor maintenance and repairs on machine(s) in accordance with operating instructions to insure optimum performance.
Operates, as required, machines that reproduce material through photocopy and xerographic processes.
Assists in organizing the filing of material reproduced through photocopying and other processes.
Monitors job requests and downloads print jobs from system or scans paper originals.
Communicates with customers to clarify orders or answer questions.
May bind, staple, manually collate and prepare brochures, pamphlets, booklets and related materials.
May complete billing forms related to print job requests.
May notify service technician if machines are in need of repair.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Six (6) months of work experience, or its part time equivalent, in the reproduction of material through photographic and xerographic processes, e.g. photocopies blueprints and microfilms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.

Working knowledge of operations, adjustments, and care of reproduction machine(s) operated.
Ability to coordinate eye and hand maneuvers in making minor repairs and adjustments to machine(s).
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to identify unsatisfactory machine output.
Ability to stand, walk and stoop.
Ability to lift supplies.
Ability to communicate with customers and answer questions regarding print job requests.

CSEA position grade 4, anticipate salary is $39,938. Person hired for the position must meet the minimum qualifications listed here as this hire is approved through Onondaga County Civil Service.
