What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analyst, Cost position at Opportunities?
Job Purpose:
Responsible for providing financial support and analysis across the entire organization with an emphasis on cost accounting concepts and activities within manufacturing operations.
Essential Functions:
- Establish working relationship with operation personnel. Provide clear, concise financial data and explain results and financial drivers. Aide in the operational understanding of financial results within their responsibilities.
- Prepare financial models and reports for management and other leaders.
- Calculate and analyze breakeven points by plant and product.
- Create, validate and support manufacturing KPI’s.
- Analyze capital project requests for compliance with corporate policy including ROI justification.
- Research inventory transactions to validate accuracy.
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs, comparing to budgets and historical results. Effectively communicate findings.
- Analyze operating costs to identify trends. Look for cost saving initiatives. Devise and coordinate plans to reduce costs.
- Analyze, initiate, and implement best practices and procedures. Identify and eliminate manual processes.
- Establish financial controls. Develop, test and initiate strategies for auditing and testing of programs and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide cost accounting assistance as necessary.
- Leverage business intelligence tools (BI) to effectively help in day-to-day management.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects/assignments in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate expertise in resolving complex accounting issues and identifying accounting errors and discrepancies.
- Coordinate and collaborate with business units to understand end-user needs and requirements.
Qualifications Guidelines
- BS in Accounting and relevant 7 years of cost accounting work experience in manufacturing.
- CPA/CMA designation. Cost accounting experience in an engineer to order environment preferred.
- Advanced excel user with an intermediate understanding of Power BI.
- In depth understanding of the manufacturing process from quote to ship.
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast -paced, multi-task environment
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Must be willing to travel to manufacturing plants. Expected travel up to 10%.
Compensation/Benefits:

The final compensation offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and location.
