Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional patient care and possess strong knowledge in optical services. As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients with their eyewear needs, ensuring they receive the highest quality service while adhering to industry standards and regulations. In addition, as a technician, you will assist in preparing patients to see the doctor and performing special testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.
- Conduct fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses to ensure proper fit and comfort.
- Provide education to patients regarding eyewear care, maintenance, and usage.
- Work up patients to see the optometrist
- Perform special testing
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and optometrists to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize optical and technical equipment for measuring vital signs related to eye health.
- Order contacts and glasses using patient insurance.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology to provide informed recommendations.
- Manage inventory of optical products and supplies within the clinic.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar role is preferred.
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician is preferred.
- Knowledge of optical principles, including lens types, frame styles, and fitting techniques.
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and electronic health records systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and sales abilities.
- Strong ability to work as a team.
