The Insurance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the insurance processes within our oral surgery office. This position is responsible for managing insurance verification, coordinating patient records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental and medical coding and experience with managed care systems, enabling them to effectively support both patients and healthcare providers.
Duties
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments.
- Coordinate the submission of insurance claims and follow up on any outstanding claims.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in the coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance benefits and any necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate billing practices.
- Manage office tasks related to insurance processing, including filing and record keeping.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies and managed care requirements.
