Starting Pay Rate: $15.00 per hourJob SummaryUnder general direction the person in this position performs duties to maintain the care of wildlife, as well as provide guidance to interns. Perform wildlife related duties including cleaning, husbandry, record keeping, and general labor.Supervisory responsibilitiesInterns and/or volunteers Essential functions: EQUIPMENT OPERATIONOperate and maintain anesthesia equipmentOperate and maintain x-ray equipmentOperate and maintain blood analyzer Safely and effectively operate a 4x4 motor vehicle in an off-road environment in proximity to people and obstacles.PATIENT CAREPerforms patient care under state and federal guidelinesAssist coordinator and full-time position with treatment plansGeneral husbandry, cleaning of kennels and enclosures, diet prep, administering medications and fluidsSUPERVISION/MISCELLANEOUSAssumes supervisory duties in the absence of higher ranking personnel and accepts responsibility of patient care operationsAssist and guide interns on capture calls or when answering the phonesAssist with training of internsAssist with social media managementData entry/medical recordsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Verbal skills to communicate effectively with the community, general public, subordinates, co-workers, supervisors Math skills to calculate drug dosagesSupervisory skills to assist in assigning work, training others, reviewing performance, etc.Ability to work harmoniously with co-workersAbility to lift 50lbsAbility to assess quality of life for an animal and the ability to perform humane euthanasia when necessaryDecision-making and critical thinking skills, initiative Qualifications: Possess a valid Driver's LicenseWilling to non-standard hours, weekends and holidays Willing to work overtime as required to complete work assignmentsEducation and experience: Possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer bachelor's degree in wildlife, biology, conservation, or another related fieldPreference will be given to those possessing wildlife handling experienceLicenses and Certifications: Possess and maintain a current Red Cross First Aid/CPR and AED certification (training will be provided).PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires frequent physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, or similar activities, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves moderate risk or discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around or with moving vehicles, possible contagious diseases and unpredictable wildlife. Employees may be required to use protective clothing and work outside in extreme conditions. Be tolerable to extreme heat.
