The Facilities Management Division is seeking an Operations Technician to work at the 33rd Street Maintenance office located at Corrections. The Operations Technician position exercises independent judgment and technical expertise in performing highly skilled, journeyman level work maintaining, installing, altering, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Job Description

General Functions

An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for performing skilled technical work in two or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general building maintenance, locksmith, lighting, audio, telecommunications, or other electrical systems. Work is performed with some independence under the limited supervision of the supervisor or designee.

Representative Duties/Assignments

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Performs the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.
  • Provides expertise for wiring electrical systems, repairing, and maintaining electrical panels, lighting fixtures, and systems, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment.
  • Performs general building inspections to ensure electronic equipment or systems are meeting critical operation factors.
  • Checks emergency power supply for life safety systems; operates systems on emergency power and periodically assist in testing emergency power source under load.
  • Using a variety of tools, test and calibration equipment applies accepted maintenance, service, and repair procedures to maintain or return item to proper operation conditions.
  • Checks and maintains assigned facility, equipment, or system for preventive maintenance and critical operation factors.
  • Consults with trade specific employees and/or supervisor on special maintenance and repair problems.
  • Performs service and repairs on a wide variety of equipment.
  • Multi-trade assignments and responsibilities based on daily operational needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in electrical repair and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of Trade School, license, certifications and three (3) years of experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.

Will Be Required To Perform Mandatory Emergency Standby Duty.

Preferences

  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems.
  • Applicants with knowledge of building maintenance in a multi-trade environment on facilities, buildings and building systems.
  • Candidate must be willing to be sent on maintenance calls and assist other skilled trades’ personnel when needed.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Writing, communication, and entry level computer skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include weekends, holidays, shifts, standby and after-hours due to operational requirements.

Salary Information

Pay Grade: 110 - From $19.51 to $25.45

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Notes

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete the pre-employment drug, physical and background check.

Standard work hours are Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work hours may include weekends, after-hours, and post hurricane response due to operational needs.

This position is subject to assignment at any Facilities Management location due to project, task, or operational requirements.
