What are the responsibilities and job description for the Telecommunication Construction Quality Control Inspector position at Oregon Aerial Construction?
About This Role
Under the direction of the VP of Operations, this position will conduct inspections to ensure the quality of work performed on the customer’s aerial plant facilities meets the contract specifications and/or industry standards. This position will also assist in monitoring and coordinating company safety programs and resources by conducting safety worksite observations, providing safety training, participating in the response to OSHA Regulatory citations and appeals, and acting as liaison with outside agencies to include customers and government agencies regarding safety issues.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct job site visits, inspecting construction activities on assigned projects to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications set forth by the customer.
- Review and interpret, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, or construction methods to ensure compliance with NESC placement instructions and constraints.
- Maintain inspection logs and supplemental records including photographs.
- Confer with homeowners and violators to explain regulations and/or recommend remedial actions.
- Maintain communication with OAC Operations Management to report incidents of non-compliance.
- Utilize metering devices and measuring instruments to perform job duties.
- Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards and identify unsafe conditions or work practices.
- Coordinate supplemental inspections whenever new or previously unrecognized hazards are identified. Verify that corrective measures are completed in a timely fashion.
- Assist in project safety preplanning and hazard analysis with managers, supervisors, and foremen for new jobs.
- Perform regular safety training sessions and hold tailgate meetings with crews on job sites.
- Ensure that adequate first aid supplies and fire extinguishers are maintained on company vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct walkouts to pre-field new jobs.
- Prepare and submit weekly status reports.
- Assist crews in the field when necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining company issued supplies and electronic equipment.
- Additional tasks as requested
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:
- Minimum five years’ experience in utility construction, pole transfer / violation work.
- Background in telephone / CATV construction and maintenance is required.
- Previous experience performing NESC inspections or experience working on an aerial line crew is preferred.
- Must be proficient in NESC and OAC Construction Standards.
- Experience in performing or assessing safety-related duties with the understanding of OSHA standards is required.
- Ability to read and interpret utility construction blueprints.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to tailor language based on the audience.
- Personal time management and organizational skills under limited supervision.
- Proficient in the use of a variety of computer programs and software including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and job management databases (i.e., Field Squared).
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, and be capable of extended work hours required.
- Ability to travel to job sites.
- Ability to submit county permits weekly.
- Ability to conduct accident investigations onsite.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings.
- Ability to conduct unbiased inspections and report back to OAC management among peer group
Working Conditions
This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
